Funchal Madeira

Getting there

Fly into Madeira International Airport (FNC), which is well connected via direct flights from most major European cities. The airport is approximately a 20-minute drive from central Funchal, where the majority of our celebrations and recommended hotels are located.

Weather

March in Madeira is generally mild, with daytime temperatures between 18–22°C and cooler evenings. For guests travelling from warmer climates such as Ghana, it may feel noticeably cooler than home, particularly in the mornings, evenings and by the sea. We recommend packing light layers, a sweater or jacket for evenings, and something warmer for time spent on the water or in the hills.

Getting around

Travelling around the island is straightforward and relaxed. We recommend using Uber for ease and convenience throughout the weekend as it is widely available across Madeira & is generally reliable and reasonably priced. Taxis are also easy to find and can be arranged through hotels or hailed locally.

  • Airport to central Funchal: approximately 20 minutes by car
  • Most of the venues we will visit: typically 10–15 minutes by car from central Funchal
